Stay on top of a CEO’s routine

Are you curious how is the routine of those who have reached the top in the corporate world? It’s not full of glamour as many fancy. But where I walk, many people ask me what my day-to-day life is like, what my office’s duties and responsibilities are.
Because then I decided to describe what the CEO routine (Chief Executive Officer) is like, that is, the president of a company, and this involves a lot of interaction and a few hours “spent” in a lonely way.

Here I leave you some insights into my hotel routine.

How long does a CEO work

In the case of hospitality, I work on average 10 to 12 hours a day, but this time is longer because you need to consider weekends, which consume on average 80 of the time “thinking strategically” in the business. This applies to your vacation slacks and vacations, because as CEO I continue to answer for the business even in physical absence.

Free time

For starters, I sleep on average 4 hours a night (personal insomnia situation), I do regular exercises to help me sustain the intensity and responsibilities of my work.

What I tell you is that CEOs need to train at a pace similar to that of an “elite athlete”. That’s allocating part of my time to my physical and even mental health.

Direct the time you get to yours and the people you consider important in your personal life. In addition, pay attention to other hobbies in a personal and individual way, such as readings, writing, newspapers, among others.

The function of exercise to air the mind

Every day I usually do races within the company itself on a minimum journey of 5 to 6 kilometers a day, always waking up too early. I practice gym twice a week to work harder than physical endurance, mental endurance.

Everything you continually do becomes a habit, the closest point to excellence. By doing the same thing over and over again you find better ways to run them.

Exercise takes you and see your own professional routine, how to stay motivated day by day to fulfill it as staying motivated day by day to overcome your biggest challenge, which is yourself, your tiredness, your exhaustion.

Mission in the face of so many responsibilities in the company

I believe that i mainly involve my face-to-face interactions with my directors, managers in general, in addition to personally visualizing how hotel operations, emails, phone, communication with the company in general are going.

CEO and the unforeseen

In a hotel environment, there are many situations in which it is worn out reactively, dealing with issues that unfold during the day itself internally and externally.

From time to time it is very common in my view that CEOs have to face or go through crises, be they in every way in the company.

Time spent in the organization

More than half of my time is invested in listening to people, that is, especially to executives who report directly to me, as direct employees, in addition to other unforeseen situations.

Staff, delegation and meetings

I consider the action to delegate positive. CEOs should avoid doing everything by themselves. Efficient CEOs implement well-designed structures and projects that help everyone in the organization safely drive decision-making.

Our role is to inform, support and integrate teams for projects and actions in general. Build the company’s thinking capacity.

Time alone in management

I would say that on average 30 of my time I do individual work, studying, analyzing, reflecting on the entire company, projects, actions, demands, etc.

Meetings

Being CEO of a large hotel complex demands an endless stream of meetings and each is totally different from the previous one. Although I am part of my work routine, I point out to executives, leaders, managers and CEOs to be judicious with the meetings in which they participate.

Time is money – they hold shorter and more efficient meetings. By the way, I wrote an article in which I ask if you know how to conduct a productive meeting.

To complete

Above all I’ve mentioned, you have to have purpose, passion for the area where you operate, whether in the hotel or any other.

That’s what will make a difference in your life, in your day-to-day commitment to people, whether colleagues, subordinates, superiors.

To be grateful for what has been made room for many other achievements in your life. Take it from me.
