What really motivates us to move on with the hotel? Why do so many young people give up this career so soon? I know a lot of people who do just that (give up), because they go through some situations that have shaken their self-confidence and get frustrated early in their career. Give it some thought. We all know someone who deep down feels like a failure and with it tends to use a certain cynicism with acidity as self-defense to “soften” his harsh routine in the service delivery segment. You’re full of people on automatic, aren’t you? Have you ever seen a machine get excited about anything? That’s that! full of people like that, robotized, soulless, lifeless, no sparkle in the eyes. Turn on the automatic and take life. Not everyone will get there, but I mean the professionals who stopped in time and seek excuses to be too busy to give as justifications the want to learn and grow more and more.
A lot of people give up easily because they didn’t make it to the top. Over the years we’ve lost our power. But that’s possibly the key to improving as a person and professional. We can always go beyond our capabilities. Many times, I joke that the business room, hotels, human resources, have become “wailing walls.” Boredom in companies is the evil of the hotel professional. Be careful with your career, if we can say so before you give up. Every day we can learn from life, from our mistakes, failures and frustrations.
If life is a party, they forgot to invite me. Have you heard that saying? Every day is learning day, all you have to do is accept it. Remember, no one can give you what she doesn’t have. Accept and face that life is not easy, and we are here to learn, whether young or old, suffering and so on. Life passes very fast, time is cruel, does not return, so you have to allow yourself to learn daily. One thing is fact, we alone get nowhere and life alone can be depressing. Isn’t that right? Know how to manage your pressures, avoid being anxious and so many other things that make us sick in this corporate world.
I will talk a lot about learning, because it is not exclusive that it is only of young people. I think many don’t know it yet, but I literally chose to leave the favela (and i’ll never stop honoring my roots). Over so many years working in hospitality, I learned a little bit that we should work for ourselves. Unfortunately what I will say is the reality, hard and raw: Companies do not think about employees, think about profit, results. And who works, the employee also thinks the same way. Do you know anyone who tried to take you down? Pull a fast one? in front of you is one thing, but when you turn your back, it’s a razor that cuts you off without you being able to notice and then it may be too late. I know a lot of people who, to step up, do not make efforts. Unfortunately, it’s full of people like that. Care! Time says about people’s character. Believe…
Have you ever had that feeling that you kill yourself to work, to get what you craved, and when you do, you feel empty? I wonder what happened. Have you ever heard anyone say that the more you grow, the more you catch? This is our corporate world. When we stop to analyze our life in hospitality it is difficult to understand our plans, goals and how far we can be from everything we imagine for our life. In hospitality there are no routines, just as in our life, there is often no routines. Anything can happen. It’s unpredictable. So I believe that our main goal is to learn and grow with our mistakes and failures. There is no perfection in hospitality, every day you see mistakes being made by people and you need to be better than all this, otherwise you go crazy. See you soon, A hug,
