As obvious as certain concepts seem, it is precisely the obvious that needs to be remembered every day, incessantly. So today I’m going to talk about what I’ve been witnessing since the beginning of my career in hospitality, which is self-responsibility.
It is the key to a life of achievements and achievements. And you know why? You are solely responsible for the results you have achieved. It seems hard to believe, since we work as a team and your result may depend on the other, but it is you who makes the decisions on a day-to-day basis.
Choose what your day will be like
When you get up, today still, you earn another day and it is on that day, in the here, now, in the present, that you have, yes, conditions to choose how your day will be. Billionaire Bill Gates, creator of Microsoft, says he chooses what to think. That means he has the control to guide his destiny, just like you. Whatever area you act in, you may prefer to find everything very bad, complain about everything, live whining, playing the role of poor thing and that life has not given you any opportunity, or can also do the opposite.
Don’t blame your lack of attitude, your limitation, your frustration, your failure on the other. There’s no point blaming anyone. But don’t sit idly by. We make mistakes every day. I often say that the one who doesn’t make mistakes is the one who doesn’t. However, we make even more mistakes when we become dependent on someone, be it society, the world, the government, finally, the other, hoping that they will solve their life and their problems.
Resilience is knowing how to act rationally and less emotionally
Of course, everything around it has an influence on us. Does the other man’s opinion weaken you? Does it make you unmotivated? Sad? Unfortunately, there is nowhere to escape, because life is made up of relating to the other, whether at work, in social, family or conjugal life.
But having the resilience to behave differently than you were initially formatted, the chances of not getting into this game of conflict, victimism or pointing to culprits is great.
Now answer me: is life really yours or someone else’s? Problems we all have, small, medium, large, serious, very serious. And before them, some whine more, others less, but then what is the solution? How many of us actually got out of the comfort zone looking for solutions? From my experience in the hotel area, few do.
10 golden tips for you to take on self-responsibility
Believe me, you won’t have everything in life. So invest in what makes you happy and that is really necessary for your life, as family and friends. Assume your mistakes, failures, assume your responsibilities and especially recognize your mistakes, because they make us evolve and do differently next time.
Finally, I leave here some advice I would love to receive if I were starting my journey:
- Talk less and listen more
- Of suggestion rather than just criticizing
- Be positive, because of thought and negative energy the world is already fed up
- Stop thinking it’s all wrong, that no one’s good and that you’re the best in the world
- Stop finding guilty and help, tidy up, clean, fix
- If one makes a mistake in the company, we all make mistakes
- All of us at some point are weak, some more, some less, but we all make mistakes every day
- Stop being poor, victim of people and situations. This is one of the most important items to be self-responsible
- Be honest, upstanding, ethical, do what’s right is give your best
- In the corporate world, no one will feel sorry for you. In fact, the one who’s sorry is chicken!
